How eBay Live's fees work
eBay publishes a rate card for eBay Live. For trading cards it shows two fees, which eBay combines into one final value fee.
| Fee | Rate | Applies to |
|---|---|---|
| Commission | 6%, capped at $100 per item | Total sale: item, shipping, sales tax |
| Payment processing | 2.9% + $0.30 per order | Total sale |
| Promotion to Dec 31, 2026 | $0.10 per order fee on items priced $10 or less | Per order |
Where the cap helps
The cap bites once the total sale passes about $1,667. On a $5,000 card with no shipping or tax the commission is $100, not $300.
The $10 line
eBay's page says the promo is a "$0.10 per order fee on items priced $10 or less". It does not say the $0.10 replaces the $0.30, so we assume it does, and we read "priced" as the item price. Because the fee jumps from $0.10 to $0.30 above $10, a card at $10.00 can net more than one at $10.20; the break-even sheet handles this.
| Commission, 6% of $54.50 | $3.27 |
|---|---|
| Processing, 2.9% of $54.50 plus $0.30 | $1.88 |
| Total fees | $5.15 |
| You receive (card price minus fees; the $4.50 shipping pays the label) | $44.85 |
